Think a science teacher's life is droll and hum-drum? Animal-attacks, electrocutions, near-drownings, poisonings, suffocations, concussions, contaminations, and innumerable explosions are just some of the ingredients that make up Mike Shaw's scientific adventures. Accompany Mike as he takes his first steps from an early age of two through the years with wild abandon, and in many cases, leaps head first into some of the most entertaining, deeply - moving escapades and learning experiences of a life time. You'll bound through fields in North Carolina with him and later find yourself attached to a cocktail waitress in a New Orleans casino, investigating a deadly form of Southern Culture in Petri dishes, blowing through walls at breakneck speeds, face down in a pile of cow excrement, lost in winter wonderlands, and all the while, enjoying the journey we all take towards that something in our own lives just as he continues his quest for the great prize we all seek, our place in this world.
