This exciting new science fiction tale will chill you to the core. Two young people, unaware of each other's existence, volunteer to become cryonauts—physically frozen in a life-suspension experiment. Leonard Tall-Chief, a high-steel worker, and Francine Mapleton, a waitress, postpone their destinies for untold generations.
The year 2039 would be unremarkable except for two significant events.
The first event marks a giant breakthrough for the wellbeing of all mankind. For once, no man, woman, or child should go needlessly hungry ever again. No one, ever again, should secretly profit from feeding the less fortunate. Everyone might benefit from partaking of this discovery. But should they?
The second event poses a threat to the continued existence of all mankind—a disease that tortures and teases and ultimately leaves its victims lifeless. It moves ever so slowly, spreading its fire-like fevers over land and sea. It will take three generations before the impact of these two events clash. And when they do, the very lives of Leonard and Francine will be at stake.

About the Author
Rosemary and Larry Mild, cheerful partners in crime, are coauthors of mystery novels and thrillers; a new science-fiction novella; and two collections of short stories. They have a riveting series of short stories in Mysterical-E, an online mystery magazine, featuring Copper and Goldie, a disabled ex-cop and his partner, a rescue golden retriever. The Milds' stories appear in three anthologies: DARK PARADISE: Mysteries in the Land of Aloha; MYSTERY IN PARADISE: 13 Tales of Suspense; and Chesapeake Crimes: HOMICIDAL HOLIDAYS. In 2013 the Milds waved goodbye to Severna Park, Maryland, and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where they cherish time with their children and grandchildren.
