"One Thing Remains will help you be better prepared to handle adversity in your life or comfort a friend dealing with adverse circumstances." — Bob Russell, Retired Senior Pastor, Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY
David and Shannon Carroll had plans—ones that typical stressed-out, busy, rat-race American life produces—but God had another plan altogether. And, when their fast-paced, rest-averted but well-intended lifestyle caught up with them, devastation struck, wreaking havoc on everything in its path.
David, a pastor of a growing church, juggled a myriad of responsibilities, but suddenly everything halted—unwillingly. Amnesia shattered his mind, upending his world. Life hit pause without consent, impacting everything, especially their family. Facing unforeseen and unwanted challenges, David and Shannon’s journey through hardship—as chronicled in their book One Thing Remains: One Couple’s Traumatic Encounter with Amnesia and Their Life-Changing Journey to Restoration—could have unraveled their lives but instead, it deepened their faith, strengthened their bond, and forged a new path… a story poised to inspire others.
The pressure to be everything to everyone is a real and prevalent struggle among families today, compounded by financial, career, family, and relationship demands. The Carrolls share in their inspiring book how, despite learning to live life through a new lens, they were able to break free from these cultural patterns, transform their lives, and find true peace through the unexpected gift of amnesia.
The Carrolls' story is a powerful reminder of how the pressures of modern life can take a toll on our mental and physical health. Their transparent and raw narrative shows that it's possible to stop the cycle of stress and busyness to find a more meaningful, peaceful life. Through their journey, you’ll learn how to:
- Understand that God does not intend for you to live a stress-filled life: The Carrolls highlight how faith can be a grounding force, helping you to prioritize what truly matters, eliminate what doesn’t, and find peace amidst unexpected chaos.
- Accept suffering and learn to suffer well: Their story shows that suffering, while painful, can also be a period of profound growth and transformation. By embracing their struggles, they discovered deeper levels of resilience and faith.
- Achieve a total reset in your relationships: David and Shannon's experience underscores the importance of reevaluating and resetting relationships to foster genuine connections and support.
- Recognize the essential role of community: They demonstrate that having a supportive community is crucial for navigating life's challenges and maintaining mental and emotional well-being.
- Realize that God's Word is alive and can never be taken away from deep within us: The book emphasizes the enduring power of Scripture to provide comfort, guidance, and strength in any situation.
One Thing Remains is not just a story of overcoming adversity; it's a guide to finding lasting peace and fulfillment that is centered around the one thing that matters most. David and Shannon share practical insights and spiritual wisdom that can help you navigate your own life's challenges, whatever they may be. Their journey from brokenness to restoration will inspire you to reassess your priorities and choose to live the life God desires for you, not what the world deems important.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by the demands of life or seeking a deeper connection with God, this book offers hope, encouragement, and practical guidance for finding true peace and joy despite the current hardship you're navigating.
Remember, you may have plans, but God’s plans are always better!
