Very nice clean copy in (original?) leather binding with more recent spine. The book also contains an interesting Appendix in which the Archbishop of Canterbury directions to the bishops concerning orders and curates. The book is a guide to the incomes of parishes in England. Bacon was clerk in the first fruits department of Queen Anne’s Bounty Office, a redistributive fund that took from ancient forms of tithes on rich parishes in order to supplement the livings of parishes that could not make their payments.
