Print on Demand. This book argues that traditional history has misunderstood its purpose: real historical knowledge lies not in abstract laws or principles, but in a meticulous and comprehensive understanding of unique and unrepeatable historical events. The author challenges prevailing views on the role of historical "laws" and argues against theories that privilege mass phenomena over individual experience or seek to reduce historical development to a sequence of economic stages. He contends that free will and chance play a significant role in shaping historical outcomes and that genuine historical inquiry must incorporate the full complexity of human agency, aspirations, and experiences. This book offers a profound examination of the nature of historical inquiry, challenging conventional wisdom and providing a fresh perspective on the discipline’s relationship to the past. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Wissenschaften.
