This is a biography by one great Victorian novelist, Anthony Trollope, of another William Makepeace Thackeray, who served as a mentor to Trollope in his early career. This copy is very good in the publisher's original red cloth with black titles and designs on the spine and both covers. Both hinges are cracked but holding. Minor scuffing and bumping at the corners and spine ends. The spine is sun darkened and there is slight fading, wrinkling and soiling on the covers. The text is quite clean and unmarked.
