Print on Demand. This book is a unique guide to conducting essential experiments in physics. It does so in a manner that helps students to think critically and understand rather than just follow the steps of an experiment. The book is divided into chapters covering different aspects of physics, including mechanics, heat, sound, light, and magnetism and electricity. Each experiment includes detailed instructions, diagrams, and questions to stimulate critical thinking and aid understanding. Calculations associated with each experiment must be worked out by the student, with some assistance provided. The book also encourages students to draw their inferences from experiments and compare their results with established conclusions. It is an indispensable resource for students seeking to enhance their understanding of physics through hands-on learning. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

IN the year 1886 Harvard College made a very impor tant change touching the physics in its requirements for admission. For many years candidates for the Fresh man class had been examined in physics, but in text-book physics only. It was now decided to establish a require ment of laboratory work to be recommended by the College in place of the text-book work, although the latter, con siderably increased, remained as an alternative for those who could not command laboratory facilities.
