For story continuity, David Rex Garner placed himself into many of these situations. He had to change some of the participantsa names for their protection, and in some instances, changed his name. Each story really did happen, with many more stories going untold due to writer fatigue. His job made him confront the best in people and the worst in people. In an ongoing debate with his editor Margie, many profanities shouted in the heat of the emergency were deleted as to not offend the readers. David Rex Garner wanted to change his favorite partneras name in the book, but after she read the manuscript, Fern agreed to allow the use of her name. She is a true, wonderful friend and currently works as a paramedic. By the way, there were no animals injured in the writing of this book.
