Add to basketAcross four states, 3,050 miles, and nearly 55 hours on the road, photographer C.D. Autry set out to capture something increasingly urgent: the raw, untamed beauty of America's protected wild places - before they change forever.
Terra: Exploring Some of America's Greatest Landscapes is a striking photography coffee table book that takes readers through two national parks, four state parks, and a national natural landmark spanning New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas - including Big Bend National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Garden of the Gods, Caprock Canyon State Park, and more. Each location is marked with its precise coordinates, grounding these sweeping vistas in real, findable places.
But Terra is more than a visual journey. Opening with a quote from Ansel Adams and closing with a direct look at the mounting pressures facing America's public lands - from reduced funding and eased environmental protections to habitat loss and threats to monument status - this book is a quiet call to look closely at what we stand to lose. Autry's lens finds both the grandeur and the fragility of these landscapes, honoring a tradition of conservation photography that stretches back generations.
Whether you're a lover of the American Southwest, a national parks enthusiast, or simply drawn to beautiful photography with a purpose, Terra belongs on your coffee table - and in the conversation about protecting these places for the generations who'll walk them next.
