Take the ten most momentous days in the history of Scottish football. Add in interviews with some of the game's biggest names, including Willie Miller, Davie Weir, Eric Caldow, Ian St John, Ernie Walker, David Taylor, Maurice Malpas and, from the world of politics, first minister Alex Salmond. Mix with ten of Scotland's most eminent football historians and sports journalists. And the result is one of the most fascinating books yet published on Scottish football. DAY ONE: the first defeat of Queen's Park, after an astonishing eight years unbeaten. DAY TWO: when the Scottish Cup was withheld due to a riot at the 1909 Old Firm final. DAY THREE: the Wembley Wizards of 1928 and the 5-1 hammering of England. DAY FOUR: when, against all the odds, Motherwell won the 1932 league championship. DAY FIVE: Scotland's first, disastrous participation in the World Cup finals, 1954, a wound that was entirely self-inflicted. DAY SIX: Scotland's crushing 9-3 defeat to England at Wembley in 1961 and how Frank Haffey was made a scapegoat. DAY SEVEN: Argentina 1978, the defeat to Peru and the consequences for Ally MacLeod. DAY EIGHT: Aberdeen's historic win over Spanish giants Real Madrid in the 1983 European Cup Winner's Cup final. DAY NINE: The tragic death of Jock Stein in 1985, just as he put Scotland on the road to World Cup qualification success. DAY TEN: the appointment of Berti Vogts, Scotland's first foreign manager and a reign that was sometimes farcical, frequently amusing but always fascinating.
