The guidelines for a peaceful and prosperous life were set down over three thousand years ago, when Moses delivered ten principles to a people in the wilderness - inscribed, according to the text itself, by the hand of God.In the millennia since, those ten principles have been modified, mistranslated, politically weaponised, and buried under layers of religious agenda until what most people know as "The Ten Commandments" bears little resemblance to what the Hebrew text actually says. The same text explicitly commands that nothing be added to these words, and nothing removed. This book was written with that principle as its first and only editorial rule. Each commandment is presented in its original Hebrew, with a literal English translation, its historical and linguistic context, and a direct examination of what it means for how we live today. No doctrine. No agenda. Just the text - and what it actually demands of us. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.

What if the rules dictated by the Ten Commandments meant something entirely different when first written into those stone tablets?
Most people interpret the Ten Commandments at face value, accepting whatever narrative or agenda it might carry. But these commandments had very different meanings at the time of their creation, when Moses delivered the stone tablets from Mount Sinai.
To understand what these principles meant for the Hebrews stationed in the desert for forty years—and what they mean for anyone living in the 21st century—we must strip away centuries of church narrative, political weaponisation, and translation bias. We have to return directly to the oldest authoritative Hebrew source: the Masoretic Text.
The text itself gives an explicit command: add nothing to these words, and remove nothing. This book was written with that principle as its single editorial rule.
When you remove institutional doctrine and examine the original Hebrew, long-held assumptions begin to look very different:
"Do not commit adultery" was not a modern, sweeping mandate on general sexual ethics—in its original legal context, it specifically prohibited violating and ruining another man's marriage contract.
"Do not take the Lord's name in vain" literally reads "do not carry the name into emptiness." It is not about using profanity; it is about claiming to act in God's name while behaving dishonestly.
"Thou shalt not kill" uses the specific verb ratsach (unlawful murder), establishing a clear legal distinction between murder and the lawful taking of life in ancient Israelite society.
Whether you are a Christian seeking deeper biblical roots, a Jewish reader looking at historical exegesis, or an independent believer who respects God but stays away from mainstream institutional religion, this book offers no church dogma and no denominational agenda.
Just the Masoretic text—presented with literal English translations, historical context, and an honest look at what it actually demands of our lives today.
