Paperback. The Temptation Algorithm Write what you know. But what if what you know gets you killed? Joshua Presnell is a washed-up writer with a dying career and a mountain of demons. When his billionaire publisher, Valentine Cardi, offers him a chance to live the life of a high-stakes international courier for "inspiration," Josh takes the bait. The mission seems simple: transport a backpack from the gritty alleys of Naples to the docks of Palermo. No drugs, no violence-just a game to spark his next bestseller. But the game is a trap, and the rules were written in blood. After witnessing a cold-blooded massacre of Italian officers in Sicily, Josh realizes he isn't just a researcher-he's a pawn in a shadow war. He is now the target of a rogue, deep-state conspiracy led by the chilling "Man in the Trench Coat"-a CIA shadow who needs Josh, and the backpack, to disappear forever. His only hope lies in an unlikely alliance: Detective Giancarlo Corvino, a veteran of the Naples ROS, and Special Agent Miller of the FBI. As the two lawmen bridge the gap between Italy and Washington to track the "Yankee courier," they realize they aren't just trying to solve a crime-they are fighting to save a man from being erased by his own government. Caught in the gears of the Temptation Algorithm, Josh must survive the labyrinthine streets of Palermo long enough for Corvino and Miller to reach him. But in a world of rogue agents and hidden agendas, trust is the deadliest gamble of all. This item is printed on demand. "In the end, it’s true—life is a series of down-endings."
For failing American author Joshua Presnell, a desperate search for literary inspiration becomes a one-way ticket into a deadly global biological conspiracy.
When his billionaire publisher, Valentine Cardi, recruits him for a "method writing" stunt to deliver a locked backpack to Sicily, Joshua thinks it's just an adrenaline-fueled game. He doesn’t know the bag holds a stolen, unclassified bioweapon—a synthetic hybrid virus with a one hundred percent mortality rate, weaponized by a rogue CIA faction in the heart of the Congo.
After a bloody ambush in Palermo, Joshua is extracted to Alexandria, Virginia, under the phantom identity of Benjamin Watts. Stranded in a drug-fueled fog, he is haunted by the shattering ghosts of his military past and the memory of a horrific local cold case.
But the grid is closing fast. In Naples, rogue ROS detective Giancarlo Corvino has cracked Joshua's abandoned digital diary. Defying international orders and threats from the intelligence services, Corvino flies to the United States as an undocumented ghost. Partnering off-the-books with hardened FBI Special Agent Trent Miller—Joshua’s former military corporal—the two launch a relentless manhunt.
An explosive international chase stretches from the federal offices of Washington D.C. to the high-rises of Rosslyn. But as guns are drawn by the Potomac River, the hunters realize they aren't chasing a rogue courier. They are pawns in a deep-state simulation engineered by an invisible elite. In a world where a man is a wolf to another man, some conspiracies are too massive to be stopped—and the truth is the most dangerous weapon of all.
