Hardcover. 6 3/4" X 10 1/4". Unpaginated. Rather heavy wear to pictorial paper over boards with rubbing, toning, and bumps to covers, corners, and edges. Some areas with surface-paper loss have been filled in with black marker at boards. Boards are exposed at corners and along edges. Cloth at spine is frayed. Clear tape has been applied to spine in an attempt to repair. Light age-toning to pages. Pages are free of marks and notation. Hinges are very loose and tender, with connective mesh visiable at both. An admittedly worn, but overall clean and complete copy of this 1954 illustrated children's book by Czech poet and writer, Frantisek Hrubin (1910-1971), and illustrated by "The Walt Disney of Easter Europe," Czech puppet-maker, illustrator, motion-picture animator and film director Jiri Trnka (1912-1969).
