Print on Demand. This book presents the outcome of an investigation into the creation of a standardized zinc bronze test bar, led by the American Institute of Metals and the Bureau of Standards. Such a test bar would be valuable in determining the physical qualities of the material produced, especially its tensile strength and elongation. A committee was convened to determine the ideal shape of the test block and test piece. The book meticulously outlines the various experiments and methods employed by the author over a period of years, including the evaluation of different casting temperatures, and the documentation of the tensile strength, compression, thermal analysis, and microstructure of the resulting bars. The author's investigations and methodologies have since become the standard for the production of such test bars, and the data presented in this book serves as vital reference material. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
