The author has tried to make the definitions as simple and clear as possible without sacrificing accuracy. He has purposely avoided baby definitions, such as: A noun is a name-word; a verb is an action-word; an adjective is a quality-word. The whole purpose Of the pamphlet and Of the nomenclature movement generally, is to avoid the waste involved in teaching a child something in one grade or class or school which he must unlearn in the next. Economy of learning requires that what we teach at any stage must remain true ever after.
