About this Item
A 1901* edition (vols. I & II) of the famous books written by the siblings, Charles and Mary Lamb in 1807, and intended "for the use of young persons." Both are illustrated by Harold Copping (b/w sketches both whole-page and set within text), with Introductions and Additions by F. J. Furnivall. Volume I covers the comedies; Volume II the tragedies. Beige cloth boards feature the iconic outline portrait of Shakespeare in red. Condition (comments apply to both books; unless otherwise stated): head and tail of spine has some chipping/tearing; esp. vol II. Binding - vol II is looser than that of the tight binding of vol I. Internally, there is a degree of tanning; more prominent on the preliminary and final pages. *There is no publication date in either volume; the date of 1901 is an estimate based on research. Pagination: vol I - pp. xvii, 347, vol. II - pp. xiv, 307. 8vo (royal octavo). Internal images are taken from both books. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request an additional payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2331.
