What helps a child feel at home — even far away?
When Mariyka moves to a new country, everything feels different. To comfort her, Baba shares a story of flying seeds that carry the strength of their roots, no matter how far they travel.
The Tale of Strong Roots is a heartwarming children’s picture book that celebrates family, traditions, and the wisdom passed from grandmothers to grandchildren.
Through gentle storytelling and beautiful illustrations, this multicultural tale follows little Mariyka as she learns from her grandmother about the strength of her family’s roots. Inspired by Ukrainian heritage and written in Canada, the book speaks to children and families everywhere about belonging, resilience, and the stories that connect us.
Perfect for:
🌿 Children ages 3–8
🌿 Bedtime reading, classrooms, and family storytime
🌿 Families who cherish traditions, love, and connection across generations
Why families and teachers love it:
✔️ Teaches children about cultural heritage and values
✔️ Celebrates the bond between grandparents and grandchildren
✔️ Encourages storytelling and sharing family memories
The Tale of Strong Roots is more than a bedtime story — it’s a keepsake of love, resilience, and the traditions that carry us forward.
