Alkmaar, New In Chess, 2014 Softcover, 144pp., 17.5x24cm., ills. in b/w., in very good condition. . ISBN 9789056915377. Tactics Time 2 presents 1,001 tactical positions selected from real games played by amateur and club-level chess players. Authors Tim Brennan and Anthea Carson focus on practical tactical patterns that players are likely to encounter in their own games, rather than on spectacular combinations drawn exclusively from grandmaster encounters. The exercises cover motifs such as knight forks, overloaded pieces, back-rank weaknesses, opening checkmates and tactical opportunities in pawn endings. By working through these positions, readers can improve their pattern recognition, calculation, decision-making under time pressure and confidence at the board. The book is particularly suitable for beginners, improving players and club players who want to sharpen their tactical awareness through realistic practice. Tim Brennan is an American chess player and chess educator who collects tactical positions from everyday amateur games. Together with Anthea Carson, he developed the Tactics Time books to provide practical exercises based on recurring patterns in ordinary competitive play. Anthea Carson is a chess author and educator who collaborated with Brennan on the selection and presentation of tactical exercises. Their approach emphasises recognisable patterns and practical decision-making to help developing players improve their results. (AI-generated content description).…
