The Trust: Its Book By Charles Ranlett Flint and James J. Hill New York: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1902. First Edition. Octavo (approx. 8½ x 5½ inches). Approximately 300 pages. Original publisher's dark blue cloth, gilt-lettered spine. An important contemporary defense of corporate consolidation was issued at the height of the American trust era. The work presents a primary perspective on large-scale industrial organization by two leading figures of finance and railroads at the turn of the twentieth century. A fine example. Pages are evenly toned with age. The binding is tight and sound—no writing, inscriptions, or underlining. One small bent corner noted, otherwise an exceptionally clean and well-preserved copy of this significant Progressive Era title.
