Item description from seller

Quarto. 82 photographs, measuring about 8" x 10". Plus about 40pp. of various catalogues for Galion truck bodies, bound at rear. Though undated, a few of the license plates visible in the photographs date to 1938 and 1941, giving an approximate date of 1942. A brief mention in a government document notes that the company was founded in 1937. The entire contents are bound into card covers with steel clasps. Some of the photographs are linen-backed, though most are not. One print has two large chips, though they don't approach the truck in the center of the image. Overall, the prints are in excellent condition, but for a few inexplicable punch holes. While there is no title page, per se, the first photograph appears to be derived from a maquette, consisting of a kind of title page for the company. Krieger was a fabricator of steel-framed trailers, haulers, and almost anything that could conceivably be pulled by a truck engine. Photographs depict trailers being hauled by trucks, including many with liveries for different companies, mostly in the New York area. Considering the urban location of the company, there are some visible landscapes of New York in the background. There is a nice variety of angles; many shots are from the side, but some are head-on, or look inside the trailers, or depict the trailers in action. OCLC locates no physical records of the company, although we are aware of a box of Krieger company material, including some kind of trade catalogue and photographs, held at the Smithsonian. A starkly visual and very broad record of the products from this manufacturer.…

Store description

As a small, independent bookseller in Cleveland, Ohio, I deal in general used, rare, and antiquarian books, autographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, and personal and family papers in all subjects. My family has been in the antiquarian book business since 1971. Are you moving, downsizing, or doing some spring cleaning? Did you inherit or otherwise come into some old books? Or, maybe you've collected modern novels from the last thirty or fifty years. No matter what kinds of books you have, we'd love to take a look at them! We travel throughout Ohio, western Pennsylvania and New York, southern Michigan, and eastern Indiana, and will travel farther in some cases to look at whole libraries or even just a few particularly interesting books. Give us a call at (216) 352-3940 and we can talk more about the kinds of books you have.…
