8vo. 5.5 x 8.25 inches. [2] + 113 pp. +[5] + [6] pp. adverts at end. The top of the title page has had a name torn away and repaired with the loss of the letter 'A' before 'Treatise'. Bound in original leather boards, with later cloth spine with title label on spine. Extremities worn but otherwise a good copy. Traces of embossed stamp at foot of front board. The Mechanic's Lien, a part of US law, is a security interest in the title of real estate to benefit those who have supplied labour or materials to construct or repair that property. In the state of California it is a constitutional right, implemented in detail by many statutes, of which this 1868 Act was an early example. 19th CENTURY LAW CALIFORNIA 19th CENTURY.

Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields. We also offer a bookbinding and restoration service. Visitors to the shop are welcome and we exhibit at UK book fairs.
