An attempt to present 'an account of all title-page frames, or compartments, cut either on a single piece of wood or metal, or on pieces evidently intended to form part of a single design, and found used in Great Britain and Ireland before the close of the year 1640.' Appleby is a town well worth a visit, the coffee pot is always on though refreshment with �a little more authority' can be had if the Crown & Cushion in the town's market square is open!
