There are moments in life when the clock seems unbearably slow.
Prayers go unanswered. Doors remain closed. Opportunities appear delayed. Dreams feel suspended somewhere between hope and heartbreak. And in those difficult seasons, many quietly ask the same question:
“God, where are You?”
In Times and Seasons (2nd Edition), author, missionary, pastor, and retired Navy veteran James Langston delivers a deeply personal and biblically grounded message for anyone struggling to understand God's timing. With honesty, wisdom, and spiritual clarity, Langston reminds readers that God’s delays are not denials—and that every season of life carries divine purpose.
Rooted in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven,” this expanded second edition explores the sacred rhythm of life through the lens of faith, perseverance, spiritual growth, and trust in God’s greater plan.
This is not merely a book about waiting. It is a spiritual roadmap for understanding how God uses time itself to shape character, prepare hearts, open doors, and align lives with His eternal purposes.
Drawing from years of ministry, military service, missionary outreach, personal struggles, and spiritual reflection, Langston speaks directly to readers navigating seasons of uncertainty, transition, disappointment, silence, growth, and renewal. Whether you are standing at the beginning of a new chapter, grieving the end of another, or simply trying to understand why life has unfolded the way it has, this book offers encouragement, perspective, and hope.
In this newly revised and expanded edition, readers are guided through three transformative sections:
Part I: Understanding Time
Discover the divine nature of time and why God’s timing often differs from human expectations.
Part II: Navigating Your Season
Explore how to respond when life suddenly changes—or when nothing seems to change at all. Understand the difference between waiting on God and standing still in fear.
Part III: Walking in Purpose
Learn how to live intentionally in every season of life, embracing faithfulness, obedience, and spiritual clarity regardless of your circumstances.
Through powerful chapters such as “When the Clock Feels Silent,” “Which Now, Lord?” and “Appointed Times and Sacred Trust,” Langston addresses the emotional and spiritual struggles many believers quietly carry:
- Why does God sometimes seem silent?
- Why do others appear to move ahead while you remain waiting?
- How do you trust God when life feels delayed?
- What if your current season is preparation instead of punishment?
Filled with biblical insight, relatable stories, reflective questions, and practical encouragement, this book speaks to students seeking direction, parents seeking wisdom, pastors longing for renewal, and everyday believers seeking to walk faithfully through difficult seasons.
This book reminds readers that:
- Waiting is not wasting.
- Silence does not mean abandonment.
- Delays can become divine preparation.
- God is still working even when nothing appears to be changing.
More importantly, it reminds readers that life is not random. Seasons change, circumstances shift, and time continues to move forward—but God remains faithful through it all.
If you have ever wondered whether God has forgotten you…
If you are tired of comparing your timeline to everyone else’s…
If you need peace in the middle of uncertainty…
If you long to trust God again with your future…
Then this book was written for you.
Your season has purpose.
Your timing still matters.
And your story is not over.
Let this book help you rediscover the peace, wisdom, and confidence that come from trusting the One who holds all time in His hands.
