He received his Bachelor of engineering degree from Mysore University Master of Science degree in Civil engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and PhD in foundation engineering from the Indian institute of technology, kharagpur, India. Prof Murthy was a consultant to many prestigious organizations such as National Thermal Power Corporation National Industrial Development Corporation Mathura Oil Refinery Maruti Udytg Ltd He has authored numerou technical papers published in India and abroad He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) a life member of the geotechnical society (India) and a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation engineering (India).
