First published in 1912, this copy is a reissue published in 1951. Calligraphic book label of Norman Scarfe (1923 - 2014) distinguished historian and author of Shell Guides (Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire). It states �Sum Scarfei nec muto dominum� (i.e. �I belong to Scarfe, I do not change my master.�) Heraldic bookplate of the author and novelist, Anthony Powell on the front pastedown. Some sun fading to spine otherwise close very good.
