Facsimile lithograph after a German 16th century woodcut, then wrongly attributed to Dürer, from the collection of Heinrich Anton Cornill-d'Orville (1790-1875), director of the Städel Museum in Frankfurt a.M., and famous collector of the graphic works of Dürer. Ralf Leopold von Retberg-Wettbergen, painter, lithographer, author of art historical works, assembled a very important collection of engravings and woodcuts of Albrecht Dürer. He also copied c. 30 of the rarest woodcuts of Dürer, in a very small limited edition of 25-50 copies, which were not sold but were donated to friends and collectors.[(5987)].
