Master Pulmonary Clinical Concepts, Documentation, MEAT, HCC, ICD-10-CM, V24/V28, and Real-World Coding Scenarios
The pulmonary system is one of the most important areas for Risk Adjustment Coding, yet understanding respiratory conditions requires more than memorizing diagnoses and codes.
System-Wise Risk Adjustment Coding for CRC: Pulmonary System is designed to help CRC students, medical coders, and Risk Adjustment professionals connect clinical knowledge with accurate documentation analysis and coding decisions.
This comprehensive guide takes you step by step through major pulmonary conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea, and respiratory failure.
Inside this book, you will learn how to:
• Understand pulmonary anatomy and important clinical concepts
• Recognize signs, symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment approaches
• Apply ICD-10-CM coding principles and appropriate specificity
• Understand MEAT and how it supports documented conditions
• Distinguish active, stable, historical, and resolved conditions
• Connect pulmonary diagnoses with HCC and Risk Adjustment relevance
• Understand V24 and V28 model awareness and mapping concepts
• Evaluate provider documentation without making unsupported clinical assumptions
• Recognize common documentation and coding mistakes
• Apply a structured approach to real-world chart review
• Practice with comprehensive pulmonary coding case studies
• Strengthen your CRC examination preparation and workplace decision-making skills
The book goes beyond definitions by teaching a practical thought process:
Provider Documentation → Clinical Understanding → Current Status → MEAT → ICD-10-CM → HCC Relevance → Risk Adjustment → Model Awareness → Defensible Coding Decision
Whether you are preparing for the CRC examination, beginning a career in Risk Adjustment Coding, or looking to strengthen your real-world chart-review skills, this book is designed to help you move from simply recognizing diagnoses to thinking like a professional CRC coder.
Use it as a learning guide, classroom resource, exam-preparation companion, and practical reference as you continue building your Risk Adjustment Coding career.
