System-Wise Risk Adjustment Coding for CRC
Master Clinical Concepts, Documentation, MEAT, HCC, ICD-10-CM, and Real-World Coding Scenarios
Ready to move beyond the fundamentals of Risk Adjustment Coding?
CRC Master Series – Book 2 is a comprehensive, classroom-style learning guide designed to help students, new coders, and healthcare professionals develop confidence in system-wise Risk Adjustment Coding. Building on the foundation established in Book 1, this volume focuses on applying coding principles to real-world chronic conditions encountered in everyday coding practice.
Rather than simply memorizing diagnosis codes, you'll learn why diseases occur, how providers document them, how HCC models apply, and how to assign ICD-10-CM codes accurately using current coding guidelines. Every chapter is written in a clear, beginner-friendly style that mirrors the experience of learning in a professional medical coding classroom.
Inside This Book You'll Learn:- Cardiovascular and Renal system anatomy reviews
- Hypertension, Heart Failure, CAD, IHD, Myocardial Infarction, Atrial Fibrillation, PAD, Cardiomyopathy, and Valvular Heart Disease
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), ESRD, AKI, Diabetic Kidney Disease, Dialysis, and other common renal conditions
- ICD-10-CM coding principles and documentation requirements
- MEAT documentation concepts with practical examples
- HCC relevance for chronic conditions
- Realistic provider documentation scenarios
- Comprehensive case studies and chapter review challenges
- Common coding mistakes and practical exam tips
- Step-by-step explanations designed to strengthen clinical understanding and coding confidence
- CRC Certification Candidates
- Medical Coding Students
- New Risk Adjustment Coders
- CPC® and CCS® Coders transitioning into Risk Adjustment Coding
- Nurses and Allied Health Professionals
- Medical Coding Trainers and Educational Institutions
Unlike many certification guides that focus only on diagnosis codes, this book emphasizes clinical understanding before memorization. By combining anatomy reviews, disease explanations, documentation analysis, ICD-10-CM guidance, MEAT application, HCC concepts, and realistic coding scenarios, readers develop the critical thinking skills required for both the CRC examination and professional coding practice.
Whether you're preparing for certification, strengthening your coding knowledge, or expanding your career in Risk Adjustment Coding, CRC Master Series – Book 2 provides a structured, practical, and engaging learning experience that bridges the gap between theory and real-world application.
Continue your journey toward becoming a confident and skilled Risk Adjustment Coder—one chapter, one case study, and one coding decision at a time.
This book is part of the CRC Master Series. For readers new to Risk Adjustment Coding, it is recommended to begin with Book 1: CRC Foundations for Beginners before progressing to this volume.
