403pp. 9.2 inches, thickness 2.1 ins. No dw. Green buckram, gilt titles on spine. Covers mainly vg, faint light patch to front, corners bumped, spine slightly crinkled, extremities rubbed with tiny nicks. Untrimmed edges, some partly uncut. Internally front hinge cracked, endpaper excised, contents about vg with numerous faint fox spots, occasional hint of former erased pencil. Illustrated profusely with b/w photographs, 19 plates, all present, plus frontispiece is a fold-out chart, plus numerous diagrams in the text. Covers pretty well everything known about the sidereal universe at the time. This the Second Edition is, in the author's usage, drastically recast and revised, new chapters inserted, old ones suppressed. Shipping rates are now based on 500g book, to be fairer in these days of steadily increasing postage prices, to buyers of average and smaller sized books; for heavier books we will Request Extra Shipping to the correct amount. Surface mail, now called International Economy, in fact usually takes longer than abebooks' guidelines and is now our last resort for really heavy books. It is not available for Europe in any case, and we have quoted it at the 1.5 kg weight, for Rest of the World. Similarly cost of a 2nd book is based on an increment of not more than 500g, and we will request Extra Shipping if a combined parcel will cost more.
