Farmers' Mutual Records Handbook: Practical systems for policy registers, receipts, disbursements and reliable reports offers a practical look at how to organize and maintain a farmers’ mutual fire insurance company’s records.
The book outlines different ways to keep policy information, financial entries, and summaries that stay clear and usable for daily work and annual reporting.
It describes the traditional policy register, alternatives like ledger and card systems, and how to pair these with cash receipts, cash disbursements, and index tools. It also explains how to create periodic summaries that condense policy data and financial history for quick review by managers and state regulators. The guidance focuses on simple, workable formats suitable for small to mid-size mutuals.
- Clear descriptions of policy registers, increases and cancellations, and how to classify risks.
- Practical setup for cash receipts and disbursements with useful column layouts.
- Guidance on indexing policyholders and creating periodic summaries (monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Strategies to check accuracy across books and prepare easy-to-understand reports.
Ideal for readers involved in small agricultural insurance operations seeking straightforward, reliable record-keeping practices.
