270+12 ad pages with diagrams. Royal octavo (9 12" x 6 1/4") bound in original publisher's green cloth with gilt lettering to spine and pictorial of a rook with gilt pictorial of "The night's Tour" to cover.  (Betts" 12-22) Third edition. This copy served as the text for the English edition of the American Supplement. Contains the text of the third edition of the "Synopsis" (to age 140) and the supplement (pages 141-268). Has second title page on 141. Contains a list of chess clubs in the United States and Canada. Condition: Corners and edges bumped, spine ends and corners rubbed, spine toned else very good.
