A unique photocopy of a magazine article published in the Entomologist's Monthly Magazine (1915 - No.610 pp.49-112) & bound in marbled boards with a brown cloth spine. A synopsis of the British Siphonaptera is given, with a view to furnishing ready means of identification of all fleas so far recorded from the British Isles. Brief descriptions of the characters likely to prove of value for identification are given, with the chief hosts of each species. Instructions for collecting and preserving fleas are added. Charles Rothschild was an Entomologist. His collection of fleas is now in the Rothschild Collection at the British Museum. The Entomologist’s Monthly Magazine was first published in 1864 and in 2014 celebrated its 150th year. The journal accepts articles on all orders of insects and terrestrial arthropods from Britain and worldwide. Papers on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, biodiversity, conservation and natural history of insects are invited from all parts of the world. Short field notes and observations are also welcome. In addition, the journal also publishes papers on the history of entomology, book reviews and obituaries of leading entomologists. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 64 pages. Item Type: Extract.
