Sydney is the very best person to call when you are in trouble; someone that you know will do everything possible to help you. Huffy Truck, (a truck with attitude, who pretends that he does not like to get up, washed or go to work, but really loves Sydney and is proud to assist whenever Sydney asks for his help); Too-Tall the giraffe, (the kind Policeman with good ideas and intentions); Hip-Hop the frog, (the DJ at Froggy's Hut who likes to think he is a "real cool guy"); Mr Toughly the gorilla, (and a Fire Chief that is scared of just about everything), and Chelsea the elephant, (who is rescued along the way), are just some of Sydney's friends who team up with him, to help sort out all the muddles caused by the other animals , as they get up to, or into trouble.
In the final story, much to Sydney's amazement, he finds himself helping the Man in the Moon free his moon-shutters, after an incident triggered off by the four mischievous lion cubs at the firework night celebrations. But it is the Man in the Moon that resolves the dilemma of how on earth, (or on the moon), Sydney will get back home after he has rescued the moonlight!
At the end of each story, Sydney doesn't just blush with embarrassment when someone thanks him for his help; the children can see that something very special happens to his coil.
These stories and the colourful illustrations, aim to encourage children from four years to spend time enjoying fun, cuddles and relaxation at bedtime as these stories are read to them. As reading skills develop, the stories can be used as an educational tool for children up to the ages of eight, to read to themselves or others, enhancing the values of sharing quality time together through reading.

About the Author
Sydney Snake to the rescue was written after many hours of fun that Kate had telling children these stories at bedtime. Times when, with her audience, they had all taken off on the special "magic carpet" in her lounge that took them through imaginary journeys to the ends of the world and beyond, or when they all curled up on the bed, giggling at the escapades of the characters in her stories. When encouraged to write her stories down, it was with thanks to the help of Nik Gernet, who understood the pictures of Sydney and his pals that she had in her mind, that with his natural talent, he carried that sense of fun and movement in all the characters through to the colourful illustrations in the book.
Kate is passionate about improving children's literacy skills, and, through her stories, and the soon to be launched Sydney Snake to the Rescue website, hopes to encourage all children from a young age to realise the fun and pleasure there is in picking up and reading a book, learning together or even writing their own stories.
