Bound in contemporary half calf, spines with contrasting title-plates, marbled paper-covered boards, marbled page edges, bound without half-titles. Printed by Harrison and Co., London. Provenance: Each pastedown with the Blythswood armorial bookplate. Condition: Bindings tight and secure, some rubbing to extremities. Contents very well preserved being fresh and clean, a couple of leaves with minor corner creases Scarce. Notes: Second edition, published in the same year as first edition. Benjamin Disraeli, a brilliant and eloquent member of parliament, fought injustices such as Britain's cruel treatment of Ireland. In Sybil, Disraeli revealed the stark social and economic divide between rich, materialistic industrialists versus poor, suffering laborers which initiated social reforms and the platform of 'Tory Democrats.'
