Not dated, approx 1910. 32pp. Very Good/None. Soft pictorial card covers with very minor rubbing to edges/spine, minor soiling/creasing. Contents clean & tight but for very minor browning, staples rusted. A 'Penny Dreadful' type booklet detailing the story of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street. The story is told as if it is a true account, but it is based on a fictional story called 'The String of Pearls - A Domestic Romance' which first appeared in a penny dreadful in 1846. Sweeney Todd is a barber who murders his customers and gives their corpses to his partner in Crime, Mrs Lovett, who bakes them into her meat pies. He is eventually unmasked and hanged. This booklet is dated to around 1910 based on the titles on the back cover - the Johnson v Jeffries fight and the execution of Crippen took place in 1910 and I estimate this booklet dates to shortly after this.
