This adorable picture book is for any family or classroom that loves Nature, including homeschoolers, Waldorf, and Montessori-type curriculums.
The Sun and Me is a playful adventure of one child's day, moving from one type of energy to another from sun-up until bedtime. Heartwarming and brightly illustrated, this book also includes fun facts and projects for families!
The Sun and Me is the first book in the Connect with Nature series that introduces children and their people to the connection between Nature's rhythms and their own body rhythms. Learning to synchronize their daily, monthly, and yearly habits with the Sun, the Moon, and the Seasons may help families more easily achieve ideal lifelong health and happiness! Aligning with the Sun supports balanced physical energy.
Please note that the science of the Earth and Moon's orbits is different from how we humans experience them. For instance, the Sun never sleeps, but we can’t see it when it is lighting the other side of the world. Yet, the Sun continues to affect us. The darkness it leaves behind triggers our bodies to get sleepy.
This book tells that story.
I encourage your family to notice how the Sun’s patterns affect your energy and to incorporate the conversation into your daily language. (But never look straight at the Sun — your eyes will get damaged!) Big words used in the story provide good teaching opportunities and discussions. Words not normally capitalized are done so because they are considered the series' main characters.
Our bodies are super smart. They know how to connect with Nature for well-being. When you follow the rhythms of the Sun, the Moon, and the Seasons, you'll feel stronger and more balanced!
- Teaches body rhythm awareness to both kids and families
- Identifies the circadian rhythm, aka, the 24-hour body clock
- Warns about looking at the Sun (don't do it!)
- Includes adorable illustrations with kids, pets, and pirates!
- Includes "Fun facts for the family," with project suggestions, Sun trivia, and questions.
- Contains a note from the author explaining the purpose and importance of understanding body rhythms, which can be used for teaching and discussion
- Includes suggestions for sleeping better.
- Makes a great gift
- Great for:
- Teachers who appreciate the importance of connecting with Nature to bring balance to kids
- Teaching science, biology, chronobiology, anatomy, astronomy, and health (physical, mental, and emotional)
- Outdoor summer camps for kids
- Day-long outdoor field trips, such as hiking to a destination
- Farm-to-table programs for kids

- Waldorf-style education
- Homeschool curriculums
- Family campouts
