An Original Sully Prudhomme Calling Card upon which Sully Prudhomme as written an ELEVEN-LINE NOTE SIGNED. In this note sent to an unnamed recipient addressed by Sully Prudhomme as "Cher ami", Prudhomme writes to announce a gathering to meet with, hear a reading of, and to discuss the work of Henry Bérenger, the noted French Writer and Radical Socialist Politician. The note is SIGNED BY SULLY PRUDHOMME with "bonus amour". Sully Prudhomme won the 1901 Nobel Prize in Literature "in special recognition of his poetic composition, which gives evidence of lofty idealism, artistic perfection and a rare combination of the qualities of both heart and intellect", making him the first person ever to win the Prize. In Fine condition (with a small stain and paper remnant -- presumably from a prior attachment of the card to another paper -- to the upper left corner, and with a small bit of wrinkling to the upper right corner), the note provides an excellent glimpse into the life of an important French author, the first person ever to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
