About the Author

D'origine juive ukrainienne, Ir�ne N�mirovsky, n�e en 1903 � Kiev, conna�t le succ�s d�s son premier roman, David Golder (1929), puis avec Le Bal (1930). Apr�s l'Exode, elle se r�fugie dans un village du Morvan avant d'�tre arr�t�e par les gendarmes fran�ais, puis assassin�e � Auschwitz, l'�t� 1942. Ag�e de treize ans, sa fille a�n�e, Denise, emporte dans sa fuite une valise contenant une relique douloureuse : le manuscrit ultime de sa m�re, Suite fran�aise, jusqu'� ce jour in�dit.
