Neuware - Moses brought the people out. Joshua brought them in.There is a particular kind of calling the church rarely talks about - the calling to follow someone who cannot be followed. Not to be the founder, the legend, the irreplaceable original, but to be the one who picks up the staff after the greatest leader in Israel's history has died on a mountain with the promise still in sight. That was Joshua's assignment. And he finished it.More Than a Successor is a full-length biographical and theological study of Joshua - from his first appearance in the biblical record as an unknown young man in the wilderness, through forty years of invisible formation under Moses, to his commissioning, the conquest of Canaan, and his final charge at Shechem. Every chapter draws from the Hebrew text with exegetical precision and pastoral depth, tracing the life of a man who waited without scheming, served without seizing, and trusted God to open the door in His own time. What this book covers: - The renaming of Hoshea to Joshua - and why Moses did it at the worst possible moment, on purpose- The forty years of hiddenness: what God was building in a man no one was watching- The commissioning of Joshua (Joshua 1) - the most important succession text in Scripture- The crossing of the Jordan, the fall of Jericho, the defeat at Ai, the long campaign, and the day the sun stood still- The dividing of the inheritance and the final sermon of an old warrior- A three-part companion study: Joshua and Jesus, the House of Nun, and rare insights from the text- A fifteen-week group study for churches, seminaries, and leadership cohorts- A Hebrew and Greek lexicon of key terms- A classified bibliography and full scripture indexThis book belongs to The Servants of God Series - major, full-length studies on the towering leaders of Israel, written for those who take both the Word and their callings seriously. It is a companion volume to Moses: The Man God Made Great.Written for the seminary. For the pulpit. For the pew. For every servant who has stood in the long shadow of a legend and wondered whether faithfulness in the middle will ever be rewarded. It will.Excellence-in-Christ is our only standard.Faithful Witness Press - El Ne'eman.…

He followed the greatest leader Israel had ever known — and became great in his own right.
Joshua stood in the long shadow of Moses for forty years: the servant who waited, the soldier who would not seize the throne, the faithful man overlooked while a whole generation died in the wilderness. Then God made him great in the sight of all Israel — not by his grasping, but by his serving.
More Than a Successor is a full-length study of the life, faith, and leadership of Joshua, written for everyone who has ever been asked to follow a legend. Moving from Joshua's hidden apprenticeship to the conquest of the promised land, it traces the making of a leader God could trust — and draws from it a blueprint for the second, the successor, the one still waiting for his turn.
The companion volume to Moses: The Man God Made Great, this book combines pastoral depth with serious biblical scholarship. It includes deep exegetical essays on two of the most debated passages in the Old Testament — the Commander of the LORD's host at Jericho and the long day at Gibeon — along with a fifteen-week group study, a Hebrew and Greek lexicon, and a classified bibliography for further study.
For the pulpit, the seminary, and the pew alike. For the one who serves in the shadow and wonders whether his turn will ever come.
Come and learn the blueprint from the man who followed a legend, and was made great himself.
