A smartly bound copy of this new edition of Gleig's account of the Peninsular War. New edition, revised and corrected, with a new preface. A historical narrative following a young subaltern officer's experiences during the Peninsular War, recounting his time in the 85th Regiment of Light Infantry beginning his military career. This work provides a personal glimpse into the realities of war and the emotional turmoil associated with it, exploring themes of duty, loss, and the camaraderie among soldiers. Written by George Robert Gleig, a Scottish soldier, military writer, and priest. Bound in full calf. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Minor loss to the head of the spine with a 2" crack to the rear joint. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout. Good.
