Brownville Education Center for the Arts and Humanities

309 Water Street
Brownville, NE U.S.A. 68321

-The Brownville Education Center for Arts & Humanities (BECAH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to stimulating interesting and providing education in the arts, humanities and all visual and performing arts.

We are currently selling items on line only due to refurbishing of the facility. Upon the physical opening of the Antiquarium in the spring of 2022 you may participate in a lecture or event, learn a new craft, join one of our art and design classes, view our changing exhibits, help support one of our many outreach programs or just sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee and explore our thousands of books to read and purchase.

The Center’s work is guided by a strong ethic of:

Community - We strive to build a diverse, inclusive and affirming culture

Collaboration - We believe that it is through teamwork and one on one interaction that helps to promote the betterment of the whole, whether that be the community or the individual

Inquiry - We promote the idea of growth through engagement, investigation and asking the hard questions needed to progress

Located on the Missouri River in historic Brownville, Nebraska, the BECAH brings a variety of workshops, lectures, outreach programs, and in-personal as well as virtual events to the greater Eastern Nebraska and Kansas areas as well as Western Missouri and Iowa.

Programs

The Brownville Education Center for Arts & Humanities is not just an institution for education and learning, its real purpose is to help create complete human beings capable of leading successful, productive and inspired lives.

It is through the foundation of learning, experiencing and participating that the imagination is able to create and shape our identities. To this end, BECAH offers workshops, lectures, exhibits, outreach programs and group and individual instruction in the visual arts, social sciences, music, literature, writing, music and the performing arts.

Our Building

The Brownville Public School was built in 1939 to serve the growing community of Brownville Nebraska. the one story building was designed to serve as a K-12 school providing all the amenities that such a multi educational facility would require. The School closed in 2006 and was then turned into a bookstore. When the owners died, the building and its contents were purchased by the Brownville Educational Center for the Arts and Humanities in 2021, a 501 C3 corporation..
