Full brown morocco by Sotheran of London with bevelled boards, five raised bands, gilt titles to spine and heavy foliate and ruled decoration in dark brown to spine and both boards. All edges gilt with recurring gauffered star and circle motif; gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers. Silk placemarker. Spine very slightly sunned; gift inscription dated 1856 to first blank and a little scattered foxing, mainly to prelims. A Near Fine copy. Contents include "Politeness and Subordination", "Discipline of the Heart" and "The Object of Life" with an emphasis on Christian morality. An excellent example in an unusually handsome binding.
