"Structure of Typical American Oil Fields" is a foundational technical work that provides a detailed examination of the geological characteristics of significant petroleum deposits across the United States. As the first volume in a landmark series, this collection of papers offers a comprehensive analysis of various producing regions, exploring the critical relationship between subsurface rock formations and the accumulation of hydrocarbons.

The text focuses on the structural and stratigraphic conditions of specific oil and gas fields, detailing the complex folding, faulting, and sedimentary patterns that define these essential energy resources. Each chapter, prepared by leading geological experts, serves as a case study that combines empirical data with technical insight. Readers will find deep discussions on geological mapping, reservoir characteristics, and the evolution of exploration techniques within the American landscape.

This work is an invaluable resource for geologists, petroleum engineers, and historians of science. It remains a vital reference for understanding the development of petroleum geology as a rigorous scientific discipline and the historical efforts to map the vast natural resources of North America. With its focus on the physical structure of these fields, it provides a timeless look into the earth science that powered a century of industrial growth.
