Item description from seller
Contents Preface. 1. Atom and atomic theories. 2. Quantum theory of radiations. 3. Bohr's atomic model and Sommerfeld model. 4. Wave mechanical concepts of atoms and the quantum mechanical model of atoms. 5. The multielectron atom. The purpose of Structure of Atom is to provide teachers recent researches that will allow students to share in some of the remarkable discoveries of the atomic age. The powerful demonstrations will build a strong foundation for all students as they begin their study of atom. The present approach is designed to meet this need by stressing the physical or observable aspects of the theory through an extensive use of the electronic charge density. Thus it determines directly the sizes and shapes of molecules their electrical moments and indeed all of their chemical and physical properties. Since the charge density describes the distribution of negative charge in real space it is a physically measurable quantity. 168 pp.
