Presents state-of-the-art research on the structural and thermal analysis of deepwater pipes for graduate students, researchers and practitionersCombines finite element analysis and experiments for the limit-strength analysis of sandwich pipes.
Seller Inventory # 514915035
This book focuses on advanced methods for the structural and thermal analysis of deepwater pipelines and risers. It discusses the limit strength of sandwich pipes, including finite-element analysis using Python scripts, collapse of sandwich pipes with cementitious/polymer composites, buckle propagation of sandwich pipes, dynamic behavior of subsea pipes, flow-induced vibration of functionally graded pipes, two-phase flow-induced vibration of pipelines, vortex-induced vibration of free-spanning pipelines, and the thermal analysis of composites pipes with passive insulation, active heating, and phase change material layers.
It also explores structural analysis using finite element analysis and the integral transform technique for fluid-structure interaction. Lastly, the use of lumped parameter formulations combined with finite differences for the thermal analysis of pipelines is examined.Prof. Dr. Chen An is Associate Professor of the Faculty of Safety and Ocean Engineering at China University of Petroleum-Beijing, where he has been since 2013. He received a B.S. from Dalian University of Technology in 2003, and a M.Sc. from the Royal Institute of Technology at Stockholm. He received his D.Sc. in Ocean Engineering from COPPE of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His research interests span local buckling, dynamic response and thermal insulation of subsea pipelines. He is the author of over 30 journal and conference papers on structural behavior of subsea pipelines and risers.
Prof. Dr. Menglan Duan held a Bachelor's degree (1987) in petroleum drilling engineering at the department of petroleum engineering, Jianghan University of Petroleum (Yangtze University since 2003), a Master's degree (1990) in offshore structural engineering and a Ph.D. degree (1993) in petroleum mechanical engineering at the department of mechanical engineering, University of Petroleum of China. Then he served as senior engineer, research professor, chief engineering at the headquarter of China Classification Society till 2006. In 2006, he joined the China University of Petroleum-Beijing, and now the dean of Faculty of Safety and Ocean Engineering. He is Professor of solid mechanics and ocean engineering, published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, acted as project manager for over 150 projects in ocean engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. He is the chairman of Specialist Committee V.8 Subsea Technology of the 20th International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress 2018, the chairman of China Branch of the Society for Underwater Technology, and the member of the EU Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Segen F. Estefen is currently Professor of Ocean Structures and Subsea Engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he is the general manager of the Subsea Technology Laboratory. He is a member of the advisory board of the Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Fellow ASME, Fellow Society for Underwater Technology (UK), and member of the Brazilian Academy of Engineering. He has been in Petrobras' board of directors from 2015 to 2019. He received a M.Sc. degree in Ocean Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro – COPPE, a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, and a research fellow at the Institute of Marine Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Prof. Dr. Jian Su is professor of Nuclear Engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received a BS in Engineering Thermophysics from University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, a MS in Engineering Thermophysics from Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, and a DSc in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. He was Director-Treasurer of Brazilian Society of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences (ABCM) from 2005 to 2009, and Head of Department of Nuclear Engineering, COPPE, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro from 2009 to 2013. He has been a research fellow of Brazilian National Council of Scientific Research and Development (CNPq) since 2000. His research focuses on transport phenomena, fluid-structure interaction, hybrid analytical-numerical methods, and nuclear reactor engineering.
