Print on Demand. This book beautifully captures the challenges and realities of childhood through the story of an eight-year-old boy from an aristocratic family in England. Growing up in a world of rigid norms and routines, Derek Blount chafes under the pressure to conform. When he accidentally destroys a valuable family heirloom, his fear and confusion in dealing with the consequences are heartbreakingly honest, due to his mother’s lack of compassion and understanding. The author skillfully juxtaposes Derek’s world with that of his elder brother who excels at adhering to the family ideals. Throughout this journey, the author offers an insightful look at family dynamics, the often-conflicting relationship between siblings, and the power inequalities that are often hidden within the home. An unforgettable story of growth, resilience, and the complexities of youth, it explores the growing pains and struggles of a boy not yet grown into the man he will become. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Suddenly there broke upon the stillness a patter of scurrying feet followed by the vision Of a slim sturdy figure, in a brown jersey suit, that dashed out Of the shrubbery and sped along the gravel path toward the house. Faster and faster it sped; Shoulders squared, head flung back, hair flying, the small blunt featured face set in resolute lines. At eight years Old it is a very serious matter to be a smuggler, caught red-handed, fleeing for dear life from the clutches Of Outraged Authority; and Derek was always terribly in earnest over the game of the moment.

For this reason, we kindly ask that you double-check the title, edition, and your shipping details before placing an order.
If you change your mind after ordering, you are welcome to return the book once it arrives, and a refund will be issued in accordance with AbeBooks’ return policy.
Please also make sure your address is correct before ordering as we will no be able to intervene and make changes before the book is shipped.
We can provide digital samples for all our print books ahead, so don't hesitate to reach out.
Returns
As a small publisher we do not have the facilities to resell returned books, so any returned book will be recycled. If the book is damaged or defective please continue with the return process, and thank you for letting us know so that we can improve our products.
