1896. Third edition. xv, 194pp., a frontispiece meteorological chart, vignette on the title-page, geological section, and a folding map. There is a 2 page catalogue at the end of the book. Strathpeffer is a Victorian spa town surrounded by wooded hills, situated 5 miles west of Dingwall. During its heyday, Strathpeffer was a renowned European health resort. This book, first published in 1889, expands on an earlier essay on the town by the author, and is addressed not only to medical men, but also to the visitors at the spa. After a historical sketch, the book includes chapters on the cimate, chemical properties of the waters, medicinal properties of the waters, spa life and diet, geology and botany, and antiquities of the area. The book is bound in the original maroon cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling on the boards and bumping to the spine ends. There is a small dent that has caused a little damage to the cloth near the top of the spine.
