Has your work become so externally driven, that your soul has little time to catch up?
In this book, you can learn how to replace daily work stress with sustainable productivity, deeper connections, and inner strength.
Here you will find dozens of thoughtful practices learned in the trenches of a demanding professional job. If you are ready for a new approach to work and life, for more peace and perspective, less stress and anxiety, then Strategic Rest is waiting for you.
Too often we have confused the interplay of our work and rest… so we start to carry chronic tension and stress, leading to anxiety, poor sleep habits, and depression. Strategic Rest is the alternative to that “stress as a status symbol” mindset. Proven effective in a fast-paced corporate work environment, this collection of poetic lessons will inspire you, challenge your assumptions, and teach you to cultivate a mindful, resilient, and sustainable approach to your daily work.
As you read each section and begin to practice Strategic Rest, you will learn how to carry peace around deep inside, letting go of the constant pressures that often lead to mild depression. You will begin to transform unhealthy, damaging habits into new beliefs that let you achieve more with less effort.
In these pages, you will find practices to help you:
• Reduce chronic tension and stress
• Let go of difficult situations
• Interrupt cyclical thought patterns
• Find space to connect deeply
• Settle easily into restorative rest
• Inspire your most meaningful work
• Live and work more effectively than ever
Strategic Rest is about living deeply, even while you work hard. Learn to sustain your best job performance, deepest insights, and motivational leadership style in every meeting, conversation, and project, day after day. When you develop a lifestyle of rest, you let go of unhealthy habits that hold you back from working with your whole heart.
Years ago, Stephen Covey reminded us to “Sharpen the Saw” – to stay healthy, circumspect, and productive. Brene Brown has taught us that transparency and vulnerability offer better health and deeper meaning. Now, best selling author Christopher Bates offers you a collection of daily practices for sustainable productivity.
Strategic Rest is far more than just a pill and a nap. It is not about how to take a better break, but rather how to break those thought patterns that push you to overcommit, overwork, and over-stress.
Be inspired… learn how to transform work stress into sustainable productivity, deeper confidence, and greater strength.
Strategic Rest might be the best thing that ever happens to your career.
