“Friends,” he repeated. “Sure. We could manage that.”
A runaway heart. A guarded bounty hunter. Two weeks sharing one isolated homestead.
Fleeing the whispers of a broken engagement, Evelyn Granger exchanges homes with her longtime pen pal in search of two quiet weeks in the Montana Territory. Instead, she finds herself sharing the isolated homestead with her friend’s gruff and infuriating brother.
Sam Cooper, a hardened bounty hunter haunted by the loss of his parents, has spent years keeping others at a distance. When an unexpected return brings Evelyn into his home, her stubbornness challenges his carefully guarded solitude—and awakens feelings he has no intention of entertaining.
"You put me down!"
"No, ma'am."
"Sam Cooper, set me down! I can walk—"
"And fall on the other ankle? Quit fightin' me, woman."
But as forced proximity turns irritation into something neither can ignore, a dangerous man from Sam’s past resurfaces.
Evelyn is soon caught in the path of an old vendetta and Sam is forced to confront the hunt that has defined him.
Will he keep guarding his heart—or risk everything for the woman who has finally made his house feel like home?
