As you can see from the photos, the covers are in very nice shape. There are a couple of small white spots on the front cover, one on the spine. The gilt lettering on the front and on the spine is very bright and not worn. The last names of Governor William Bradford and Governor Edward Winslow are off the top edge of the front cover. Off the bottom edge is the last name of Robert Cushman. The cover edges and corners are in very good shape. The spine ends have little crinkling, the bottom one has one tiny tear. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is quite solid from cover to cover. I'm not finding any binding issues (not bad for 634 pages). The binding of the covers is very good as well. The pages are in very solid shape. I would describe the foxing as light. Many pages, perhaps most, have none at all. Quite a few have just one or two amber spots, almost always at the blank margin. A small number, including the title page (reacting to the tissue guard facing it and protecting the frontispiece) have a moderate amount. The amber foxing on the title page is mostly at the margins. There's a fair amount of foxing on the half-title page as well. I didn't see anything that I would call soiling on the pages. I didn't see much by way of creasing. I flattened out a couple of very small creases at the bottom corner of two consecutive pages. I'm not seeing any turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There is a small sliver of a loss off the top edge of page 313-314 and 315-316. That tiny bit of loss is attached to the top edge of pages 317-318 and 319-320, all very minor. I didn't see any other instances where one page pulled off a little bit of the paper from another. I did find one tear off the bottom edge of one page. It comes up and through the last four lines of the page, no issue reading the words there. I also found one teeny tiny tear off the bottom edge of one page, not coming anywhere near the print. There's also two teeny tiny tears off the outer edge of the frontispiece, very far from the illustration. The frontispiece does not appear to have any foxing. It does have a very light crease on part of its white margin. Overall, it's in very good shape. There is one other illustration (facing page 435), a map of Plymouth Bay, Massachusetts. It too is in very good shape. There are no markings in the book. There is only one attachment, a bookplate on the rear inside cover. It has a picture of a lion holding a star between its paws and underneath that there are four letters done with calligraphy-- REMP. I'm assuming those are the initials to a fancy name. At the bottom of the bookplate are the letters N and a little 'o' signifying Number, but no number is written or printed. No one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Very nice copy, published in 1897, 1897 on the title page. Seller Inventory # 004595
